End of “The Reluctant Dragon” Tour

The end of the tour has arrived!

It’s been five and half weeks since the tour began, and the time seems to have flown by! It certainly won’t be a contender for the most glamorous tour ever, but it’s certainly been a lot of fun!

We began five and a half weeks ago in UWTSD’s student accommodation, and since then we have been camping. The nights have often been wet, freezing and breezy, but we have managed to stay in high spirits throughout!

The shows have gone brilliantly, and we have been more successful than we had ever hoped to be. We have had so many kind words from audiences and venues alike, and it has been worth fighting the cold nights to see families enjoying themselves.

We are all really grateful to everyone who has come to see our show, to the venues for accommodating us, Hannah’s family for looking after us for a few nights, to Bryn Davies’ family for keeping us warm for an entire weekend, to all of the campsites that we stayed at and to all of our families for supporting us throughout the tour!

It has been a pleasure working with such great, talented people, and fingers crossed that we will be able to get together next year and do it all again!

But for now, we have one more venue and two more days of the tour left. We are finishing at my favourite castle of all, Conwy Castle. It is a castle that our family used to visit often when I was younger, and it will be nice to return there again for our final shows of the tour!

But after that, who knows what will come next!

Had a nice tour of Chirk castle today after our performances! #Touring #Theatre #Acting #Castle

Touring Diary!

The Reluctant Dragon Tour is well underway!

We have had the pleasure of visiting some lovely venues over the past week, and it has been great performing to so many people! We have had a huge amount of support so far, and so many kind words about our show, so we are massivley grateful to everyone who has come to watch!

Its been a tough week too, especially when battling the elements. It is certainly an experience that we are all learing a lot from already, developing new skills for the future. We are really getting an appetite for the industry!

It is also wonderful to be working with such a great group of people who I am lucky to also call my friends. Their humor and their wisdom are integral to keeping the tour on the road! Links to their websites are below:

Graduation

After 3 years, I have graduated from the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David!

I have been very fortunate to be graduating with a 2:1 classification, with B.A. (Hons) in Acting.

It has been a wonderful three years at the university, and I have enjoyed every single second. I have learnt a lot from my experiences, and have learnt plenty of things that will hopefully help me in my career as an actor.

I have met and worked with so many wonderful, talented and supportive people, and I am so very lucky to be able to call them my friends. They have been a pleasure to work with, and have been great fun when the work had finished! Not only those who were on the same course and year as myself, but I am grateful for everyone I have been friends with across all the year groups and courses.

I have also been very lucky to work with some wonderful lecturers and directors, who have taught me so much too. I am also so very grateful to them for investing so much of their time and making such an effort with their students. We certainly could never have done it without them!

I have been very fortunate to have a very supportive family too, who have been there for everything that I’ve done; watching shows, helping with the website, emotional support and making jokes at my expense!

To everyone, thank you for everything, and I wish you all the best in the future! It has been an honour!

Upcoming Project – The Reluctant Dragon

It’s been a fantastic 6 weeks working on Edward Bond’s “The Sea”, and we had wonderful time performing it, and hopefully our audiences enjoyed it too! It has been working on such an intricate play with a fabulous cast, crew and director, and I certainly have learnt a lot from the experience. Photos of the production will be posted here soon.

Onto the next project then, which will be a children’s touring theatre piece called “The Reluctant Dragon”, written by Kenneth Grahame, adapted by Toby Hulse. As a part of a graduate theatre company, Blackout Theatre Company, we will be taking the production to castles and stately homes across Wales and England from July 23rd to August 31st. Our rehearsals begin next week and we are really excited to start working on it! Unfortunately, funding is an issue, so we are having to rely on donations so we can sustain the project over the summer months, so we really do appreciate all the support we can get!

“The Sea” by Edward Bond

Our production of Edward Bond’s “The Sea” opens a week tomorrow in the Halliwell Theatre, Carmarthen – Thursday 26th March to Saturday 28th March. It’s been fantastic working on the production so far with a wonderful company!

Directed by Dr Jim McCarthy, The Sea” is a play that Bond himself described as “a play which stresse[s] the strength of human beings and their ability to deal with the difficulties of changing the world”.

It has been great fun working on it so far, and we can’t wait to perform it!
